What stands out is not just what he started, but the consistency with which he continues to show up, educate, involve people and keep these conversations alive.
Recognition Story
Sandhiyan Thilagavathy’s journey with AWARE India feels like the latter. What started as a concern around gender-based violence and safety gradually became years of conversations, workshops, awareness programmes and community engagement. Through AWARE India, he has worked with children, young people, parents, educators and communities on subjects that are often uncomfortable to discuss, but far too important to ignore. The most meaningful part of Sandhiyan’s contribution is his consistency. Child safety and gender sensitisation cannot be solved through one workshop, one campaign or one social media post. They require people who are willing to repeat the conversation, listen, educate and keep showing up.
